Singita Sweni Lodge

Singita Sweni: In the dappled shade low on the banks of the Sweni River, Sweni Lodge shares the quiet spaces and secrets of an African waterway. Like Lebombo Lodge, Sweni stands only in temporary appreciation of this magnificent place. With a style that is distinctly African, Sweni unites earthenware pots and ethnic artworks with contemporary pieces, against a dark palette lifted with flashes of lime, avocado and kiwi. Built on stilts with decks of dark timber, Sweni is the smallest and most taciturn of the Singita lodges, with six supremely luxurious hides tucked away among the trees.

Facilities at Singita Sweni Lodge (Lebombo)
Lounge and timber-deck dining areas overlooking the N'wanetsi & Sweni Rivers, bar area and open boma, gymnasium and health spa, library with internet facilities, wine cellar and swimming pool. Early morning game drives; afternoon into spotlit evening game drives in open Land Rovers; guided bush walks, seasonal and community tours are offered. Internet, Satellite TV and fax facilities are available to guests at Sweni lodge.

Singita, South Africa’s celebrated safari destination within Kruger National Park, continues to set new boundaries in game lodge living with the opening of yet another design and architectural masterpiece, Sweni Lodge.

Singita Sweni Lodge is a collection of just six intimate suites nestled in dappled shade on the banks of the Sweni River. Whilst similar in architecture and design as the 15 elevated loft-style suites which opened to international acclaim at Singita Lebombo in March 2003, Singita Sweni's interior lends a more classic safari feel.

Singita Sweni offers guests a rare wilderness experience with spectacular scenery and an abundance of game in an exclusive 37,065 acre private concession on the remote eastern boundary of Kruger National Park.

Singita Sweni Lodge's shady location on the water's edge and the use of African artifacts, pots, baskets, dark leather, khaki's and greens, convey a more earthy, grounded tone which differentiates Sweni from the cliffside suites where white fabrics and pale interiors create a sense of lightness, space and sky. Whilst still essentially modernist, Singita Sweni's interiors reflect a typical safari palette. Constructed almost entirely of glass, slatted wood and bleached, woven branches, the suites merge into the intimate vistas of the river and surrounding euphorbia trees. Each suite at Singita Sweni offers absolute exclusivity and privacy with a wooden game viewing deck and outside shower. Singita Sweni's guests also enjoy their own dining room, wine cellar, swimming pool and boma. South Africa, a country of diverse cultures and cosmopolitan influences, inspires the unique culinary experience at Singita Sweni. Juxtaposing global cuisine with traditional African ingredients, Singita's style combines simplicity with an abundance of flavour. Excellent produce, well prepared and presented, is accompanied by truly inspirational surroundings. Complementing the exceptional cuisine, each Singita lodge has a unique and comprehensive wine cellar. Singita's wine program consists of approximately 35,000 bottles of the finest South African wines. Newly released red wines are matured in our temperature-controlled Cape Town cellar for up to 5 years, to ensure that they reach full potential.

Lebombo Concession The Lebombo Concession adds an exciting new dimension to the Singita wildlife experience. Located in the Kruger National Park's southeast, on the border with Mozambique, Lebombo represents one of the few remaining unexplored territories of this celebrated wildlife sanctuary. The Lebombo mountain range runs diagonally across the expanse, interlaced by the N'wanetsi and Sweni Rivers. The rangers testify that the area holds the highest densities of game they've seen anywhere, including a wealth of Big 5, abundant antelope and birdlife, and an incredible diversity of smaller animals.
